Barium chloride is usually employed as a chemical reagent to precipitate soluble sulfates and also in the purification of the seawater solution. It is practiced in several applications like heat-treating baths, waste water treatment, the production of PVC stabilizers, oil lubricants, fireworks materials, hardening of steel, in the manufacture of pigments and in the manufacture of other barium salts.
