Sigma’s 1 kb Ladder contains 11 fragments consisting of 500 bp repeats from 0.5 to 3 kb, 1 kb repeats from 3 to 6 kb, and 2 kb repeats from 6 to 10 kb. In nucleic acid gel electrophoresis, five μl of the marker should be diluted in gel loading buffer and then loaded in a single lane on an agarose or polyacrylamide gel.
