Applications :
For the selective isolation, cultivation and differentiation of coliform and other enteric microorganisms based on their ability to ferment lactose.
Directions :
1. Add 41.5 gm powder to distilled/deionized water.
2.Bring volume to 1.0 liter and mix thoroughly.
3.Gently heat and bring to boiling.
4.Autoclave at 15 psi pressure at 121°C for 15 minutes.
5.Swirl flask while pouring plates to keep precipitate in suspension and protect from light.
Caution :
Basic fuchsin is a potential carcinogen and care must be taken to avoid inhalation of the powder or its contact with the skin and eyes.
